Hainan FTP: Actual use of foreign capital up 23.3% in H1

In the first half of this year, the actual use of foreign capital in China’s southern island province of Hainan reached 13.37 billion yuan (about $1.8 billion), a year-on-year increase of 23.3%. The province also welcomed a total of 732 new foreign funded companies.

今年上半年,中国南岛海南省外资实际使用额达到人民币137.7亿元(约合18亿美元),同比增长23.3%。该省还欢迎共732家新的外资公司。

Official data shows that the actual use of foreign capital in modern services, one of the four leading industries of the Hainan Free Trade Port, grew 9.4% year-on-year, totaling 10.89 billion yuan (about $1.5 billion) and accounting for 81.5% of the province’s total actual use of foreign capital over the first two quarters of 2023.

官方数据显示,海南自由贸易港四大主要产业之一现代服务业的实际利用外资同比增长9.4%,总计人民币109.9亿元(约合15亿美元),占该省2023年前两个季度实际利用外资总额的81.5%。

In the first half of the year, the Hainan FTP attracted investments from 63 countries and regions around the world. The largest numbers of newly added firms in the province were from China’s Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as the United States.

今年上半年,海南FTP吸引了来自世界63个国家和地区的投资。该省新增公司最多的是中国香港和台湾以及美国。

Thanks to the FTP investment promotions held regularly by the Hainan government, a raft of cooperative projects have attracted many international firms from Switzerland, Singapore, France, America, Japan, and other countries.

由于海南政府定期举办的FTP投资促进活动,许多合作项目吸引了来自瑞士、新加坡、法国、美国、日本和其他国家的许多国际公司。

UK-headquartered Swire Group has increased their investment in Hainan, while the Estée Lauder Group has set up their Asia-Pacific travel retail logistics center and China area headquarters in the FTP.

总部设在英国的太古集团增加了在海南的投资,而总部位于法国贸易省的澳大利亚兰黛集团则成立了亚太旅游零售物流中心和中国地区总部。

According to a representative from the Provincial Department of Commerce, Hainan will step up investment promotions in more countries and regions as well as continue to optimize policies and services facilitating foreign investors.

据省商务部代表说,海南将在更多的国家和地区加大投资促进力度,并继续优化政策和服务,为外国投资者提供便利。
